Introduction

The Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Top-up, awarded by West Business School, is designed as a pathway for learners who have completed a diploma, associate degree, or even a bachelor’s degree in another field and now wish to pursue or add a second qualification in Business Administration. The program allows students to begin directly with specialized coursework, focusing on advanced business knowledge and essential managerial skills.

Beyond theory and practice in key business functions, the program emphasizes the development of leadership, logical reasoning, and critical thinking. These skills empower graduates to advance their professional careers, engage in lifelong learning, and prepare for higher-level academic studies such as an MBA or other postgraduate programs.

Program Structure

TopUp, also known as an articulation program or transfer program, allows students to recognize their prior learning and directly enter the final stage to complete an unfinished degree or obtain a second degree without starting from scratch.

Teaching and Learning Strategy:

The program’s core educational philosophy starts from understanding theories, learning about case studies applied by global enterprises, and gradually applying acquired knowledge to students' businesses and professional environments. In addition to practical knowledge, the program equips students with essential skills for business leaders and managers in a volatile and risk-prone global business landscape.

Student-Centered Program Focused on Solving Learners' Issues:

The student-centered (Student-centered) teaching methodology focuses on addressing learners' challenges through foundational knowledge and case studies from successful global enterprises. Through each course, students will progressively resolve management issues they encounter daily, guided by theoretical frameworks, practical applications, expert lecturers, and local teaching assistants.

Admission
CANDIDATES CAN DIRECTLY ENTER THE FINAL STAGE:
    • Graduates of a Level 5 Diploma under the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) or an equivalent qualification.
    • Candidates who have partially completed another bachelor’s program: required to undergo the APEL.Q process.
    • Holders of a bachelor’s degree in a different specialization but within the same discipline/field.
    • Holders of a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field: certain modules will need to be completed as part of the credit transfer process.
English Language Requirements:
    • Minimum English proficiency at CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) Level B2 or equivalent;
    • Alternatively, an IELTS score of 5.5, with at least 5.5 in Reading and Writing, or an equivalent qualification.

Learning Model

Swiss Top-up Degree is the bridging program system of the Schweizer Institut für Hochschulbildung in Management und Innovation (MI Swiss), an international higher education institute of SIMI Swiss. Additionally, throughout their studies, learners receive academic and English language support through the exclusive academic support system of the London Academy of Sciences United Kingdom.

Off-campus Mode:
  • The program combines Live Classes with lecturers and local tutors (where applicable) for a hybrid learning experience.
  • Offering interactive, real-time engagement with instructors.
  • Local tutors provide additional guidance to help learners apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios (please note that local tutors only apply where SIMI has a scientific partner).

APEL.Q Process

With the collaboration of APEL.Q (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualifications), the world's first system for converting experience into credits and qualifications, learners who have partially completed an equivalent program may be eligible for credit transfer to Swiss Top-Up Degree and its partner universities, helping them save time and costs.

Candidate Benefits:

  • Courses previously completed do not need to be retaken if they have the same or similar Learning Outcomes as those offered by Swiss Top-Up Degree.
  • Tuition fees are reduced based on the number of transferable credits.
  • Study duration is shortened according to the number of transferable credits.

Eligible Applicants:

  • Students currently enrolled in another program who wish to transfer their credits to Swiss Top-Up Degree and its partner universities.
  • Graduates of an equivalent program who want to obtain another specialization while saving time and costs.

Admission and Credit Transfer Principles:

  • The accepted program must be at the same level and within the same academic field.
  • Courses completed (with transcripts, results, or proof of completion) must fully or partially align with courses in Swiss Top-Up Degree and its partner universities.
  • SIMI Swiss (the governing body of MI Swiss and Swiss Top-Up Degree) and its partner universities reserve the right to determine (1) the number of transferable credits, (2) the tuition fee reduction, and (3) the shortened study duration.
  • Swiss Top-Up Degree does not accept students from fraudulent universities.
